adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Moritz has found his home! His story: Moritz was found together with his brother Felix in the winter on the street in Romania. Alone, exposed to the icy temperatures without shelter. Our animal welfare workers found the two completely shaken and decided to take the two tiger brothers in. The beautiful Moritz is now waiting in his Romanian foster home for his journey to great happiness. At the beginning, Moritz was very shaken. We are sure that he has never had any contact with humans in his entire life, they are completely foreign to him. Even a cozy cat bed, regular food, and a warm spot have confused him quite a bit. However, our Moritz has gradually become more curious over time and has already adapted quite well to his life here. After his arrival, he quickly adapted to the existing cat pack, integrated himself, and learned a lot from them 🙂 We do not want to place Moritz in single housing. Fellow animals are a great support for him, and he values contact with like-minded ones. Moritz is a charming, albeit shy tomcat, driven by his curiosity. We are quite sure that when he finds his final home, he will become brave and cheerful: even in the presence of humans! Currently, he still cannot fully come out of his shell and, despite his young age, is rather calm. Moritz will show age-appropriate, active, and playful behavior in his new home after an adjustment period. We wish him that from the bottom of our hearts! Due to his nature and background, we can only place Moritz as a pure indoor cat. He definitely has no interest in a balcony with good security.

About Moritz

What life with Moritz looks like

Moritz is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed cat waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Kittens are tiny chaos engines for about six months and then mellow rapidly. They need two scheduled feedings, a litter box per cat plus one extra, and somewhere high to climb. Spay/neuter happens around six months — most shelters arrange this before adoption.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Moritz, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Moritz?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Moritz on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Moritz if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Moritz already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Moritz isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Moritz and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
