Adopt Morrón

American Staffordshire Terrier · Male · Senior · 10 years

The municipal police informed us of a "trapped" dog at the Convent of the Poor Sisters. When we arrived, there were a bunch of police officers as if there was a terrorist inside, and it was just Morrón, an American Staffordshire terrier who was very scared and intimidated by the police. We caught him with our trap cage, and once at the animal shelter, we waited a few days for him to relax before interacting with him. He has been with us since 2018 and has shown us that he is a very sensitive dog. When he doesn't know people, he is wary of them, but when he gets to know them, he melts into love and affection. He is super playful and active, and he needs a home that understands what happened in his previous life and that can give him time to relate to strangers and other dogs.

About Morrón

What life with Morrón looks like

Morrón is a medium-sized senior american staffordshire terrier dog waiting at Protectora de Animales de Segovia in Segovia.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇪🇸Adopting from Spain

Spanish protectoras generally include sterilization, all vaccinations, microchip ID, and EU pet passport in the adoption fee (typically €250–€400 for a dog, €100–€180 for a cat). Many maintain partnerships with rescue transport providers across the EU.

Frequently asked

Adopting Morrón, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Morrón?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Protectora de Animales de Segovia handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Morrón on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Morrón if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Protectora de Animales de Segovia will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Morrón already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Morrón isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Protectora de Animales de Segovia early rather than rehoming privately; they know Morrón and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (ES). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
