Mouse

Mastiff Β· Female Β· Young Β· 1 year

Mouse is a one-year-old Mastiff with a heart as big as she is! She is a proper giant lap dog who loves a fuss and a cuddle, and wouldn't say no to the odd snack either. She might take a little time to settle at first, but she is quick to come over for a cuddle. As she gets to know you and learns to trust you, you'll see more and more of her lovely personality. She really does take confidence from being around people she knows. Mouse loves being brushed and groomed, leaning in for more fuss, and she's just as happy snoozing in a sunny spot as she is exploring her surroundings. When playtime comes around, her cheeky side shines through! She loves squeaky toys and games of chase and when she meets other dogs, she bounces around in excitement, throwing in a playful bow to invite them to join in. She is such a sweet girl who has so much love to give. If you have got room in your home (and on your lap!) for a big, cuddly girl who just wants to feel safe and loved, Mouse could be a lovely addition to the home. Mouse the Mastiff is looking for a loving home where she can enjoy all her favourite things: cuddles, tasty snacks, a bit of exploring and a snooze in the sunshine! She loves zoomies and a roll around in the grass, so a private garden would be lovely for her to let off some steam. Mouse needs to be the only dog in the home, but she absolutely loves meeting other dogs out and about and would enjoy having some doggy friends to play with. She could live with secondary school-aged children who understand that, although she's a big softie, she can sometimes needs her space, and her boundaries do need to be respected. Mouse knows sit and down and will enjoy learning more with a family who can help her grow in confidence at her own pace.

About Mouse

What life with Mouse looks like

Mouse is an extra-large young adult mastiff dog waiting at Dogs Trust Salisbury in Newton Tony.

A young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible β€” a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" β€” quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures β€” to let them settle.

πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mouse, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mouse?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Salisbury handles screening and the adoption contract directly β€” TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mouse on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mouse if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad β€” Dogs Trust Salisbury will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Mouse already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported β€” ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mouse isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work β€” that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Salisbury early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mouse and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect β€” names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
