Moustique

Mixed Breed · Male

Moustique is a friendly, playful, and sometimes talkative European tabby cat. He is FeLV/FIV negative, microchipped, vaccinated, and spayed. Moustique loves boxes and can spend hours watching what's going on around him. He enjoys company and can be talkative if left alone for too long. He enjoys petting but is not clingy. He is not too fond of laps but likes to be carried in the air from time to time. Moustique is a gentle cat who rarely uses his claws during play and even lets you give him pills directly in his mouth without trying to bite. He recognizes his name and comes out of his hiding spots when called, especially when it's time for his food! Curious, he perches on the windowsill and watches everything that's going on - he also likes to observe what you're doing, whether it's cooking or taking a shower. Overall, Moustique is an adorable cat, very easy to live with and respectful of his owners' sleep. Moustique has IBD (chronic inflammatory bowel disease), a common disease in cats that is managed daily with a special diet. When properly managed, this disease does not prevent a cat from living a normal and fulfilling life. However, digestive problems can occur occasionally and require adjustments to the treatment with the veterinarian. We are looking for adopters who are willing to continue his good habits to give him a comfortable and stable life. Moustique was abandoned at the association because his owner was ill and could no longer take care of him. Ideal placement: a loving and responsible home with enough presence. Contact Alice at 06 61 48 01 23 (first contact by text only), by email or online form.

About Moustique

What life with Moustique looks like

Moustique is a large adult mixed breed cat waiting at Club de Défense des Animaux Paris 12 in Paris.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Fees are typically €150–€300. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting Moustique, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Moustique?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Club de Défense des Animaux Paris 12 handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Moustique on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Moustique if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Club de Défense des Animaux Paris 12 will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Moustique already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Moustique isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Club de Défense des Animaux Paris 12 early rather than rehoming privately; they know Moustique and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
