adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! Mr. Darcy was locally rehomed. His story: Mr. Darcy is a small puppy, currently about 1.5 months old. And as befits a puppy, he is full of curiosity and wants to explore the world. His soft, light fur and the beautiful light and dark brown markings on his face give him a particularly endearing expression and make him a small looker. With his current shoulder height of 20 cm and a weight of 3.5 kg, he will likely still grow but stay small. Visually, it can already be inferred that different breeds could be present in Mr. Darcy. We know nothing about his history, but what counts is his readiness to become a great companion in everyday life. Character-wise, Mr. Darcy shows up as an especially sweet and affectionate puppy. He appears open, friendly, and age-appropriate curious about everything that happens around him. Like every puppy, he still has much to learn and must gradually get to know the world – preferably together with his future people, who can give him security and orientation. Mr. Darcy gets along well with other dogs and shows social behavior. As he is still so young, he can adapt to many situations with the right guidance and loving upbringing. His new family should be aware that a puppy needs time, patience, and consistent, loving guidance to develop into a balanced and secure companion. A positively working dog training class can support him and his people on this path – also during puberty, when young dogs often question what they have learned. Is Mr. Darcy your perfect match? He travels vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, and treated for fleas. Neutered, he is still not at his young age. For his travel arrangements, he of course brings his EU pet passport. After a positive Also, a foster home would be a wonderful start for a new life for him. Many thanks Sara! You gave Mr. Darcy his name and thus gave him the chance to have his own home. As of 11.03.

About Mr. Darcy

What life with Mr. Darcy looks like

Mr. Darcy is a small puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mr. Darcy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mr. Darcy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mr. Darcy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mr. Darcy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mr. Darcy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mr. Darcy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mr. Darcy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
