Muka

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 2 years

Shy Cuddle Bug Sex: female, neutered Date of birth: May 2024 Size: just under knee-high Good with other dogs: no Children in the same household: possible from teenage years onward Home sought: house with garden in the countryside The insecure, mixed-breed Livestock Guardian Dog Muka, born in 2024, is friendly toward people but needs a getting-to-know-you phase to build trust. She can also be placed with children from teenage age onward. Unfortunately, other dogs are not among her friends. When interacting with people, Muka shows submissive behavior, so putting on her chest harness still requires a lot of patience, as she immediately lies down on the ground on her side. She does not walk very far on the leash yet; she still needs practice and confidence there. She is already house-trained with us. For this sweet female dog we are looking for a home with a house and garden in the countryside, with people who treat her patiently and considerately, without overwhelming her.

About Muka

What life with Muka looks like

Muka is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Wiener Tierschutzverein in Vienna.

A young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇦🇹Adopting from Austria

Austrian shelters follow the federal Tierschutzgesetz framework: adopters sign a Schutzvertrag (protection contract) committing to the animal's welfare. Spay/neuter, microchip, and vaccinations are included.

Frequently asked

Adopting Muka, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Muka?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Wiener Tierschutzverein handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Muka on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Muka if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Wiener Tierschutzverein will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Muka already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Muka isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Wiener Tierschutzverein early rather than rehoming privately; they know Muka and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
