Mümmel & Nutella

Unknown · Young · 1 year

Mümmel (male, neutered) came to us as a found animal from an animal shelter and was not missed. The scruffy fellow unfortunately has a small handicap with his right knee. The tendon in his thigh is likely torn due to an early trauma, and the kneecap has popped out. As a result, his shinbone is twisted inward. Our vet doesn't see an operation as necessary at the moment, as Mümmel manages well with it. He uses his right hind leg normally and seems to have no pain. In November, he had a lucky encounter here at the shelter and met his heart's desire. The two are now only ever seen as a double pack ♥️We're talking about our Nutella. Nutella also came to us as a found animal from an animal shelter and was not missed. It's hard to understand why such wonderful animals are not missed... Anyway, she has greatly enriched Mümmel's life. Now, the two are looking for a loving home where they can have at least 6qm of constant free space. Always more is welcome 😉And people who take both rabbits as they are. They are, after all, wonderful!

About Mümmel & Nutella

What life with Mümmel & Nutella looks like

Mümmel & Nutella is a young adult rabbit waiting at Tierheim Wuppertal in Wuppertal.

Rabbits are social animals — most shelters recommend adopting them in bonded pairs rather than alone. They need fresh hay daily, several hours of out-of-cage time, and rabbit-safe spaces to explore. They live eight to twelve years, longer than many people expect.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mümmel & Nutella, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mümmel & Nutella?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Wuppertal handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mümmel & Nutella on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mümmel & Nutella if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Wuppertal will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mümmel & Nutella already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most rabbits on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mümmel & Nutella isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Wuppertal early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mümmel & Nutella and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
