Adopt Murphy

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 10 years

Sex: MaleBorn on: 23/04/2016 - SENIORType: Staffordshire Terrier AmericanPassed from hand to hand to end up in the pound... We took charge to avoid his euthanasia. Murphy is extremely gentle with humans. He is calm and patient. Of course, with dogs, he has his moments, and the same goes for cats, so we will look for a future adopter knowing how to handle him. Murphy is not a big athlete but he loves to take walks in the countryside. Murphy encounters a slight osteopathic issue for which we decided not to subject him to an operation since he lives very well with it, as long as his activity is adapted. Taking a nap in a sun-drenched puddle, he adores it too! An attestation of fitness to keep a category 2 dog is mandatory. For information, obtaining the attestation takes half a day and costs around a hundred euros. We wish to entrust Murphy to someone who knows this dog breed well. And especially someone present who offers our protected one a life of a patachon, made of regular walks by foot or in the car (that's his kiff), it doesn't matter if you have a garden or not. He is an adorable companion, albeit a bit rough in his approach with other animals of the same species, but very cuddly and tranquil. About Murphy

What life with Murphy looks like

Murphy is a senior mixed breed dog waiting at Justine and Co in France.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Fees are typically €150–€300. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting Murphy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Murphy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Justine and Co handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Murphy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Murphy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Justine and Co will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Murphy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Murphy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Justine and Co early rather than rehoming privately; they know Murphy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
