adoption requirements adoption process Now adopt this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now adopt this dog! Mushu has found a home! His story: The handsome, two-year-old scruffy Mushu has been waiting for almost two months in his foster home, hoping to be discovered – and we simply cannot understand why no one has taken an interest in this special dog. Mushu is an incredibly loving, social, and intelligent dog. He gets along well with other dogs, also gets along with cats, and loves nothing more than being out and about. Sniffing in the garden, exuberant play sessions, or long walks – Mushu is enthusiastic and would be the perfect companion at his perfect size of about 60 cm, making a wonderful hiking companion. At home, he is a real treasure: Mushu is a quiet, balanced roommate, house-trained, and sleeps quietly through the night. He loves to ride in the car, always looking forward to the next adventure. He also walks well on a leash, loves water, and enjoys playing with his toys. He especially loves his treats and learns surprisingly quickly – it's immediately clear how intelligent and attentive he is. Optically, Mushu is something special: His soft, shaggy fur is tawny with golden stripes, with sweet black ear tips. Under his ponytail, his warm chestnut-brown eyes peek out curiously – and with his cute mustache, he's fully in trend. He approaches strangers cautiously at first. Perhaps he hasn't had only good experiences in the past. But when he realizes that you mean him well, he warms up more and more. In his foster home, he lets himself be touched anywhere and now enjoys cuddles very much. With patience, loving guidance, and positive reinforcement, he continues to develop every day – and it's incredibly joyful to be a part of that. For Mushu, we wish for a loving home, ideally in rural surroundings with a garden, with active people who like to be out and about. A confident only dog would be especially wonderful for him, as he is very attuned to other dogs and plays wonderfully with them. In Mushu, there is still so much untapped potential – he just needs his person to help him develop it further. He can be met in his foster home in 97513 Michelau. He is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, and flea-treated, and brings his EU pet passport. Many thanks to Mushus namesake Katrin G.! Thank you for giving the handsome fellow a name and thus an identity. Stan: 21.03.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! Vielen Dank an Mushus Namenspatin Katrin G.! Stan: 21.03.2026

About Mushu

What life with Mushu looks like

Mushu is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mushu, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mushu?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mushu on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mushu if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mushu already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mushu isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mushu and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
