Mya

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 8 years

Mya is a staff dog born on January 4, 2018. Abandoned at the shelter, she unfortunately killed the family’s chihuahua during a fight. Today, she hopes to be given a second chance by a family that can offer her the stability and love she truly deserves. Very close to humans, Mya is an affectionate, cuddly dog who loves sharing tender moments. She currently shares her kennel with a male dog, and their relationship is going very smoothly. On walks, she strolls calmly without pulling on the leash, making her a delightful companion for outings. Mya gets along well with male dogs. As for living with a female dog, this would need to be assessed on a case-by-case basis—ideally with a non-dominant, non-small-sized female dog. She has also displayed some destructive behaviors, likely linked to her previous lifestyle. A family already familiar with canine needs will be best equipped to support her through this new chapter and provide her with a reassuring, suitable environment. Mya is a Category 2 dog. This means there are a few administrative procedures involved in her adoption, but the shelter will of course guide you through every step of the process. She’s waiting for only one thing now: to meet her forever family.

About Mya

What life with Mya looks like

Mya is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at SPA Salon-de-Provence in Salon-de-Provence.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Fees are typically €150–€300. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mya, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mya?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SPA Salon-de-Provence handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mya on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mya if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SPA Salon-de-Provence will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mya already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mya isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SPA Salon-de-Provence early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mya and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
