adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! Handsome Nabaro has been in foster care in Germany for some time and has already captured many hearts. Additionally, he is learning the important lessons of the Dog ABC like a model student. The beautiful young male dog with his sweet floppy ears easily puts on his harness and walks well on a leash. Car rides do not pose a challenge for the cuddle fan, and Nabaro is already house-trained and can currently stay alone for up to three hours. Strangers need a little patience, as Nabaro does not open his heart immediately. However, a few treats can help build a relationship with him. Nevertheless, he does not seem to be a dog for a large pack of humans. Nabaro clearly gives his love primarily to a primary caregiver and wants to be closely connected with her. Then he feels infinitely comfortable, reveals his gentle soul, wants to play, and snuggle. Therefore, too many two-legged beings should not be waiting for him in his new home. The lively commotion of children is also not ideal, but teenagers who approach him calmly and empathetically can be part of the welcome committee. Nabaro now reacts rather calmly to other animals, but he is more oriented towards a human companion. Soft paws are sympathetic to him. As a herding dog, he should definitely live in the countryside in a house with a garden. Herding dogs are known to be confident, independent, and may exhibit strong territorial behavior. His human companion should therefore act sovereign and consistent – dog experience is desirable. Additionally, Nabaro needs extended walks because at 60 cm, he belongs to the larger breeds and requires running and movement. Our handsome male dog has a special feature: on his right front paw, he has a splayed toe, also known as a "bear toe." This is an harmless misplacement that does not seem to hinder Nabaro. Is your heart ready for our special Nabaro? He is a true dream companion who will optimally unfold himself away from stress and hustle. He should be introduced to his new life very gently. Small insecurities, especially towards strangers, should not be held against him – who knows what he might have experienced in Romania. The suitcase is packed – with his EU pet passport included. He is microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, flea-treated, neutered, and we thank our long-standing and engaged animal rescuer Claudia for giving Nabaro an unforgettably name and identity. As of: 21.04.

Stand: 21.04.2026

About Nabaro

What life with Nabaro looks like

Nabaro is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Nabaro, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Nabaro?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Nabaro on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Nabaro if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Nabaro already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Nabaro isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Nabaro and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
