Adopt Nacktaugenkakadu

Mixed Breed · Female

Hello out there, we are Frosti and Agathe, and we have been living at the animal shelter Stuttgart for quite some time now. Originally, we were found, and no one missed us. Therefore, we are now looking for a new home. At the animal shelter, we were tested for infectious diseases. Unfortunately, it turned out that we are PBFD positive. However, we cope well with our condition and do not show any symptoms. We are optimistic that it will remain this way as long as we are kept in species-appropriate conditions and not exposed to too much stress. Logically, we cannot be rehomed with healthy parrots. We don't want to infect anyone! To be honest, both of us are a bit particular. In the past, we used to pluck each other. That's why I, Frosti, am quite naked on my chest. But it was probably more due to poor care. Now, Frosti mostly plucks herself, but it has remained within limits. When cleaning our aviary, our caretakers need to be careful with their fingers. We like to nip when we get bored. And we are often bored in our small aviary. When upset, we also love to yell at our caretakers. As you can see, we are a little bit crazy :-) Typical cockatoo personalities. That's why we are looking for a home with people who are a little bit crazy too :-) We would love to have plenty of free flight and especially climbing opportunities. We primarily move around on foot. We are eagerly waiting for people who will give us a second chance. We really need it! Cockatoo greetings, Frosti and Agathe. If you think we might be a good match, please write us an email and tell us a bit about yourselves and your housing conditions. It would be great if you could send pictures as well.

About Nacktaugenkakadu

What life with Nacktaugenkakadu looks like

Nacktaugenkakadu is a adult mixed breed bird waiting at Federnhilfe in Germany.

Birds are long-lived, social, and noisy. The species and individual history matter enormously — ex-companion parrots can carry strong attachments and trauma. Ask the shelter about their daily routine, diet, and whether they'd do best alone or with a flockmate.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Nacktaugenkakadu, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Nacktaugenkakadu?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Federnhilfe handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Nacktaugenkakadu on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Nacktaugenkakadu if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Federnhilfe will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Nacktaugenkakadu already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most birds on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Nacktaugenkakadu isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Federnhilfe early rather than rehoming privately; they know Nacktaugenkakadu and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
