adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! Our lovely Naira is seeking a new home with experienced dog lovers who can give her the time, patience, and guidance she needs. Naira is a loyal female dog who forms a strong bond with her trusted people. However, she is quite sensitive and is currently having trouble accepting changes. She has lived in her current family since she was a puppy. But with the addition of grandchildren in the family, Naira feels increasingly uncomfortable and is struggling with the new dynamics. Naira needs a home where her behavioral issues can be addressed. She displays a strong protective instinct, especially when she senses uncertainties in her environment or guidance. This is evident during walks and dog encounters. She shows her insecurity by barking or growling on the leash. Therefore, a collaboration with an experienced and positive trainer would be ideal. It is especially important to set clear signals for Naira so she can have the necessary orientation. Also, working on her leash handling and calmness in new situations should continue. With the right support, Naira can make significant progress and become a relaxed companion. But alongside her challenges, Naira also has many lovable qualities. Once she has built trust, Naira shows herself to be a real cuddle bug. She enjoys cuddles and gives back at least as much love as she receives. Naira loves to move! Whether lively playtime, exercise in the fresh air, or dog sports – she really comes alive when she is challenged and supported. Activities like mantrailing, dummy training, or similar could be perfect for her energy level, and at the same time, the bond between human and dog can be strengthened. We are looking for a quiet, rural home for Naira, preferably with a garden, where she is exposed to few environmental stimuli like traffic. This animal was abandoned.

About Naira

What life with Naira looks like

Naira is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Naira, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Naira?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Naira on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Naira if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Naira already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Naira isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Naira and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
