Nala

Female · Senior · 9 years

Nala is back at the shelter after spending part of her life with a family. Her adopters were having great difficulty understanding her needs and meeting her emotional requirements. Faced with a situation that had become too complex to manage, they decided to entrust her to us so that she could find a home better suited to her needs. Nala is an especially sensitive dog who needs time to build trust. Once reassured and feeling safe with her primary human companion, she becomes very close, affectionate, and thoroughly enjoys moments of tenderness. A real sweet tooth, a few treats are often the best way to connect with her and establish a positive relationship. As for her behavior, Nala currently lacks landmarks and socialization. Having never truly experienced the outside world, she can quickly feel overwhelmed when confronted with new situations. Her stress and fear may then lead to redirected biting behaviors. She has already bitten, with puncture wounds, which underscores the need for a deep understanding of her behavioral patterns as well as appropriate management of her emotions. Walks are now a real learning experience for her. Since she’s never had the chance to enjoy them before, she reacts strongly to many elements in her environment, such as cars, bicycles, and other dogs. All of her learnings—and her social cues—will need to be gradually revisited in a safe setting, with plenty of patience. Given her profile, Nala cannot be placed in a home that includes cats. For safety reasons, we will also not take the risk of placing her with children. We are looking for experienced adopters who can understand her unique needs, respect her pace, and provide her with a stable and predictable environment where she can gradually regain her confidence.

FR·Show original

About Nala

What life with Nala looks like

Nala is a senior dog waiting at Perwez) in Sans Collier.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

Frequently asked

Adopting Nala, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Nala?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Perwez) handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Nala on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Nala if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Perwez) will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Nala already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Nala isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Perwez) early rather than rehoming privately; they know Nala and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
