NALA

Female · Adult · 9 years

Nala is a female, spayed European Shorthair cat born on May 18, 2017. She came to our shelter because a child in her previous family was allergic to her. Nala is looking for a loving home in apartment living with a securely netted balcony. In a new environment, she is initially somewhat shy and needs some time to gain trust. After settling in, however, she is affectionate, people-oriented, and very affectionate. She enjoys the proximity of her caregivers and is well suited as a family cat. Children from about eight years old are possible in the new home. Nala is compatible with other cats. She can be matched with a suitable cat, but is also suitable as a single cat. In this case, her people should have enough time for her and not regularly leave her alone for long periods. Nala has oxalate stones and therefore needs a suitable special diet permanently. She is also currently overweight and should lose weight in her new home. We are very happy that one of our protégés may soon find a new home with you.

DE·Show original

About NALA

What life with NALA looks like

NALA is a adult cat waiting at Tierschutzverein München.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting NALA, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about NALA?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein München handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw NALA on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt NALA if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein München will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is NALA already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if NALA isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein München early rather than rehoming privately; they know NALA and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
