Adopt Nala

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 1 year

Nala – clever tracking dog looking for an experienced home Nala is an attentive hound-mix female dog with lots of energy and an excellent nose. In a familiar environment, she shows herself to be open, willing to learn, and closely attached to her humans. With treats, she masters basic commands well and can also stay calmly in her place with some patience. Being alone is possible for up to four hours, but she prefers the company of her humans. In daily life (e.g. in the office), she is pleasant, calm, and balanced. She is friendly with known adults, children, and dogs, and is always peaceful in direct contact, sometimes a bit cheeky towards larger dogs. She usually meets strangers openly, but can be unsure when exposed to unfamiliar stimuli. Important to know: Nala is still in her adolescence and is testing her limits. In stimulating situations (e.g. walks), she is still easily distracted, sometimes pulls on the leash, and reacts to environmental stimuli. Additionally, she shows typical stormy behavior for her age, reports noises, demands attention, and tries things out by chewing. This can be well guided with consistent training. Due to her strong hunting instinct, a home without small animals is required. Currently, she has difficulty with car rides. Looking for: An active, structured home with dog experience that will accompany Nala through her development phase. With the right guidance, she will become a loyal and cheerful companion.

In reizstarken Situationen (z.

About Nala

What life with Nala looks like

Nala is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Fellnasen Stuttgart e.V. in Stuttgart.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Nala, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Nala?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fellnasen Stuttgart e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Nala on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Nala if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fellnasen Stuttgart e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Nala already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Nala isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fellnasen Stuttgart e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Nala and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
