Nalu liep verloren rond in een rivierbedding. Uitgemergeld, verzwakt en met wondjes over zijn hele lichaam. Een verloren sukkelaar die nergens meer naartoe kon en door niemand werd gemist. Hij is amper acht maanden oud, maar heeft in zijn korte leventje nog nauwelijks liefde of verzorging gekend. Hij moet ook lange tijd zonder voldoende eten hebben gezeten. Daarom bouwen we zijn voeding nu voorzichtig op, terwijl ook zijn wonden worden verzorgd. Een Spaanse mastin hoort groot en sterk te worden. Een trouwe bewaker, altijd alert en bereid om zijn baasje tot het uiterste te beschermen. Dat is wat onze Nalu ooit zou moeten zijn. Maar de jongen die bij ons binnenkwam, was bang en teruggetrokken.
