Namir ♂

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 2 years

Namir is approximately 2 years old and is looking for a new home. His previous life was quite eventful. He came to us at about 10 weeks as a foundling cat after appearing late in the evening at a local restaurant. No one knew him, no one knew where he came from. He quickly found a new home - there he turned out to be a cat with a sense of adventure and soon became known throughout the village. He was increasingly away for longer periods, sometimes returning with injuries. Then he disappeared completely. In May this year, we were called by a woman who apparently took care of Namir (but did not know that he had a home). Namir had a severe injury on his left thigh and she brought him to our shelter. Somehow he seemed familiar to us and thanks to the chip and registration with Tasso, confirmation was received that it is indeed Namir. The owners were informed and picked him up. After a visit to the vet, Namir was prescribed "indoor duty" until the wound had healed. He felt quite comfortable indoors, but the owners knew that he would go on wandering again as soon as they let him out again. An indoor only lifestyle could not be realized. So they came to the conclusion that it would be better for Namir if he could live indoors or in a home with a secure garden or balcony. A few days ago, Namir returned to our shelter. Naturally, he was not very enthusiastic at first... We are now looking for a new home for Namir with a family who either has a secure garden or balcony so that he can also get some fresh air, but cannot go outside uncontrolled anymore. We suspect that he would then go on wandering again. Namir knows other cats (he has previously lived with a female cat), but it must fit. He is a handsome fellow, affectionate and loving. Namir is neutered, chipped and vaccinated.

DE·Show original

About Namir ♂

What life with Namir ♂ looks like

Namir ♂ is a young adult mixed breed cat waiting at Tierschutzverein Büdingen e.V. in Ortenberg.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Namir ♂, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Namir ♂?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Büdingen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Namir ♂ on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Namir ♂ if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Büdingen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Namir ♂ already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Namir ♂ isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Büdingen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Namir ♂ and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
