Gender: female Birthday: December 2021 Castrated/Neutered: yes Weight: 25.5kg Back story: Naomi came in October 2022 Description/ Updates/ Pictures: Update July 2026: Update December 2025: What can we tell you about this stunning girl? Naomi has been waiting YEARS for her perfect human to finally notice her. Years… can you imagine? She’s full of life, incredibly active and loves to throw herself into playtime with all the enthusiasm in the world – sometimes a little ✨dominant✨ and rough when she’s having fun, but always in the most charming way. Her favorite partner in crime is her best buddy Brady. Despite her energy, Naomi is also deeply people-oriented: cuddly, affectionate, and forever hoping someone will choose her. It’s heartbreaking to watch her spend day in and day out waiting for the moment her life finally changes. Naomi dreams of a human who is loving, sporty and ready for adventure – someone who sees her for the amazing girl she is. She has waited long enough. She deserves the absolute best. Can we give her the world? Update March 2025: NAOMI has been with us for the past two years without a single inquiry Naomi's about 3 ½ years old, a Shepherd mix with all the best traits this breed has to offer: she’s smart, energetic, and always eager to please her humans. Naomi absolutely loves people and is social with other dogs. She especially enjoys running and playing with her best friend, Brady. She would be the perfect adventure partner in crime for an active family or individual. Whether it’s running, hiking, or a road trip, she’s always ready to go! But just as much as she loves adventure, Naomi also enjoys cuddling—she’s incredibly loving and affectionate!!! Update December 2022: Naomi is a beautiful Sheppard mix female. She has a soft, fluffy coat with a friendly and intelligent expression in her eyes. Her Sheppard heritage gives her a strong and athletic build, making her an active and energetic companion. She is playful and loves to run and play, but also has a gentle and loving side, making her a great companion for families with children. She´s very obedient. Overall, Naomi is a smart and loyal pup with a charming and loving personality.

About Naomi

What life with Naomi looks like

Naomi is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Souda Shelter in Chania.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇷Adopting from Greece

Greek shelters often partner with Northern European rescue groups for placements. Animals are sterilized, vaccinated, and chipped before adoption. Fees vary widely depending on whether the shelter is municipal or NGO-run.

Frequently asked

Adopting Naomi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Naomi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Souda Shelter handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Naomi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Naomi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Souda Shelter will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Naomi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Naomi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Souda Shelter early rather than rehoming privately; they know Naomi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
