Naturmødet 2023 in Hirtshals is an annual national gathering about and in nature, where Hirtshals turns into the epicenter for Danish nature debate and nature experiences over three days. The purpose of Naturmødet is to be a democratic platform where decision makers, professionals, and citizens meet annually in dialogue about biodiversity and nature management. With a political, professional, and popular focus, we will celebrate, change, and strengthen Danes' relationship with and use of nature. We participate with DOSO, which is the Danish Animal Welfare Organizations' Cooperation Organization, to promote the message of better animal welfare for all species, and to raise the status of cats, which is still low. We have talked to all kinds of positive people from school children to pensioners who are interested in animals and animal welfare. Everything related to animals interests them. The children would rather talk about the cute and cuddly, and the adults want to talk about how we solve the problems with the many stray cats. It warms our hearts to meet so much interest in animal welfare - and especially for our work with the stray cats. We were on Radio Skaga yesterday, and it was both a fun and good experience. Our director Therese Wilbert has also been a pavement artist - female has drawn a fish on the pavement in a fun competition, where it says in bubbles: "Cats are cute!". Naturmødet 2023 i Hirtshals er et årligt nationalt folkemøde om og i naturen, hvor Hirtshals gennem tre dage omdannes til epicenter for dansk naturdebat og naturoplevelser. Det er Naturmødets formål at være en demokratisk platform, hvor beslutningstagere, professionelle og borgere årligt mødes i dialog om biodiversitet og naturforvaltning. Med et politisk, fagligt og folkeligt fokus vil vi fejre, forandre og forstærke danskernes forhold til og udnyttelse af naturen. Vi deltager med DOSO, der er Dyrevelfærdsorganisationernes Samarbejdsorganisation, for at fremme budskabet om bedre dyrevelfærd for alle arter, og for at højne kattens stadig lave status. Vi får talt med alle mulige og positive mennesker fra skolebørn til pensionister, der interesserer sig for dyr og dyrevelfærd. Alt, der handler om dyr, interesserer dem. Børnene vil helst snakke om det søde og nuttede, og de voksne vil gerne tale om, hvordan vi løser problemerne med de mange herreløse katte. Det varmer at møde så meget interesse for dyrevelfærd – og ikke mindst for vores arbejde med de herreløse katte. Vi var i Radio Skaga i går, og det var både en sjov og god oplevelse. Vores direktør Therese Wilbert er yderligere blevet fortovsmaler – hun har tegnet en fisk på fortovet i en sjov konkurrence, hvor den i bobler siger: “”Katte er søde!”.
