Negro

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 2 years

Negro is a mixed-breed male dog born in February 2024 who has already experienced far too much in his young life. On the streets, he was driven away and mistreated—experiences that left their mark. Local animal welfare workers brought him to the animal shelter of Nirina in Tuzla/Bosnia for safety. It turned out that he was once registered and must have had a home. But his former primary caregiver no longer wanted anything to do with him—despite clear registration. Currently, Negro shows himself as a cautious and reserved dog. He needs time to build trust and approaches new situations with caution. With calm, patient guidance and clear leadership, he begins to orient himself and show cooperation. He observes, learns, and gradually begins to trust. He has already developed trust in his caregivers and the volunteer staff. The shelter life with its many attractions naturally presents a challenge for him. To continue developing positively, Negro needs a quiet environment with understanding people who give him time to settle in and do not place unrealistic expectations on him. We see in him a sensitive dog who, with appropriate guidance, learns to trust and form stable bonds. With patience and empathy, he has good prerequisites to become a reliable companion. Negro travels neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped, and with an international pet passport from Bosnia. All our dogs are only placed after a positive assessment. About Negro

What life with Negro looks like

Negro is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierhilfe Pfotentraum Chance auf Leben e.V. in Linden.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Negro, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Negro?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierhilfe Pfotentraum Chance auf Leben e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Negro on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Negro if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierhilfe Pfotentraum Chance auf Leben e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Negro already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Negro isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierhilfe Pfotentraum Chance auf Leben e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Negro and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
