Adopt Nela

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 5 years

Nela is a big girl with an even bigger heart who travelled all the way from Spain in search of her forever home. Since she arrived with us, she has been full of energy, fun, and affection, a total cuddle monster with a zest for life that was simply infectious. She is the most beautiful, gentle, and loving girl. All of Nela’s travel companions have now found their forever homes, and she is the last one still waiting for her special people to come along. She’s a firm favourite among our staff and volunteers, who describe her as affectionate, loyal, and full of personality. She has stolen more than a few hearts here, if circumstances were different, several of us would have taken her home ourselves! Nela walks beautifully on a Halti, right by your side. She’s a strong girl, but with her Halti she remains calm and comfortable on walks. She can sometimes be selectively reactive towards unfamiliar people, cars, or other dogs, so she’ll need adopters who are confident with large breeds and can help her feel secure and understood. She adores her walks with our experienced volunteer Mal and enjoys spending her days exploring, playing, and relaxing in good company. Nela has made lovely progress socialising with other dogs, she enjoys calm companionship and has gone on gentle play dates with a placid male Labrador, as well as spending time with other male dogs at the rescue. Though she prefers her own space and would be happiest as the only dog in the home, she could possibly live with a calm, medium-to-large male dog following a successful introduction. She cannot live with cats or small furries, and will need an adult-only home with no visiting children. Her ideal adopters will have breed and rescue experience to help her along. Nela has likely never lived in a home before, but she’s almost completely kennel clean here, so with a patient and understanding family, we don’t think it will take her long to settle into home life. Nela arrived with sore ears and has been receiving treatment for Otitis, which is healing well. She has tested negative for Brucellosis, Leishmania, Heartworm, Ehrlichia, and Anaplasma, and she has her own passport. Nela truly is a one-of-a-kind girl, full of love, personality, and potential. She’s been waiting patiently for her forever family, and we know that when the right people meet her, they’ll see what we do: a bright, beautiful soul who just wants to be loved.

About Nela

What life with Nela looks like

Nela is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Many Tears Animal Rescue in Llanelli.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: Selectively reactive to unfamiliar people, cars, and other dogs. Needs patient introduction to home life as likely never house-trained before.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Nela, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Nela?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Many Tears Animal Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Nela on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Nela if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Many Tears Animal Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Nela already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Nela isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Many Tears Animal Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Nela and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
