adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this dog now! Nelly has found her luck! Her story: Little Nelly with big ears wants to give her heart away. She enchants with her short, strawberry-blond fur and her black button eyes and her innocent gaze, wrapping everyone in her little paws. In mid-October, the little Nelly had some luck and got to move into a loving foster family. There, she made wonderful progress in the last few weeks. When she arrived, she initially kept a distance from people, but now she shows her truly loving nature. She can be leashed, is house-trained, and enjoys all kinds of snuggle sessions. With only one dog in the household, she gets along perfectly. Nelly is a loving, gentle female dog who carefully selects her people. She lets herself be petted by those she trusts and seeks closeness. She is almost always convinced by food, even though she is initially a bit cautious with strangers. She likes to orient herself to other dogs and feels very comfortable in their company. A friendly dog buddy would certainly be a plus, but it is not a prerequisite if her new people give her enough security and trust. In the evenings, she now comes to the bedroom and settles down contentedly – a beautiful sign of how much she has opened up. Originally, the little Nelly came from Romania, Baia Mare. She was found on the street there and together with Candy she was brought to safety. For Nelly, we wish for a quiet rural home with loving people who want to not only include her in their lives but also in their hearts and share many beautiful moments and experiences with her. Cuddles and a cozy spot should not be missing. Nelly is available for adoption at any time. She is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, and brings an EU pet passport. Have you already fallen in love with the little Nelly? We thank the namingsponsor Jennifer E. for giving our Nelly her beautiful name and thus her own identity. Status: 13.02.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! Stand: 13.02.2025

About Nelly

What life with Nelly looks like

Nelly is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Nelly, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Nelly?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Nelly on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Nelly if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Nelly already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Nelly isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Nelly and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
