adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Nelson can travel directly to his final home! His story: Nelson: An outgoing puppy is searching for a loving home The small male dog with the black fur and white spot on his collar is three months old. Nelson was found with his other five siblings during a spay/neuter campaign. The mother of the puppies was spayed at that time. Together with his siblings, he patiently waits, hoping to finally find a forever family. The mother is friendly and tenderly cares for her puppies. She weighs around 10 kilograms, so we assume that Nelson will reach a medium size. Nelson is curious and open-minded. He explores his world with wobbly steps and is excited about every new experience. His friendly nature makes him an ideal companion for a patient family. His puppy eyes invite immediate cuddles. Nelson still has a lot to learn, so we wish for him a patient family who will diligently practice the puppy ABCs with the little one. If at the beginning there is the occasional mishap, one should not take it to heart and instead always accompany the little one with a positively reinforcing training style. We recommend a puppy class. There, Nelson can not only be socialized, but also deepen the basics of the puppy ABCs, and you can build an even closer bond. Together with a patient family, Nelson will grow, learn, and mature into a faithful companion – maybe with you? Nelson travels microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated with an EU pet passport to his new home. The little man will be placed after a positive foster home check. We would also be very happy to place our Nelson in a foster home. Would Nelson be your faithful companion? Many thanks, Kerstin, for naming Nelson. Date: 19.07.

Vielen Dank Kerstin, du hast Nelson seinen Namen geschenkt. Stand: 19.07.2024

About Nelson

What life with Nelson looks like

Nelson is a medium-sized puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Nelson, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Nelson?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Nelson on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Nelson if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Nelson already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Nelson isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Nelson and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
