Nemo (in foster home) Back 1 of 17 Next Breed: Dalmatian mixed breed Year of birth: 01.2018 Color: white and brown Gender: male Size: medium neutered: Yes Nemo is called Nemo in his foster home. Nemo is a special dog who seeks special people. A perfect dog with special effects. He was in the shelter five years ago and has now returned because he started to attack his owner. Unfortunately, the attacks became more frequent and more intense. Currently, he is living with our dog trainer in a foster home because he struggled with the shelter environment. Nemo is a great companion for walks. He doesn't pull on the leash, is very attentive, and responds well to recall. He can sometimes bark at dogs or people he finds suspicious, but if you lead him proactively, it's not a problem. He does not like children, so caution is advised. He also enjoys jogging or running at a leisurely pace next to a bicycle. And he loves working with people and already knows several tricks. Nemo would definitely enjoy dog sports and wants to be mentally engaged. He has a prey drive, but he is generally responsive. In his foster home, he lives with three other dogs, and it works well, but he doesn't need the other dogs. If he could choose, he would probably prefer to be an only dog. He travels well by car and can be left alone. He is familiar with accompanying his foster mother into town and to restaurants. Nemo is very people-oriented and loves being stroked. He often allows strangers to pet him as well. Now, about his quirks: when something doesn't suit him, he uses his teeth. This can happen in various situations, for example: – he defends something edible, like shopping bags – he defends the water bowl – he doesn't want to get up for a walk – he doesn't want to get out of the car With his previous owner, there were also many situations where she couldn't identify the trigger. Therefore, it's important that Nemo wears a muzzle initially in the home. In his foster home, he rarely needs the muzzle now, and most conflict points are no longer an issue. Nemo wishes for calm, self-assured people who can show him how life goes. He is a dog who needs clear guidance and people who won't be intimidated by him. It's also important to have a calm home environment so he can relax. Nemo will not be rehomed to households with children! Who is interested in this handsome guy? For more information about this dog? About Nemo

What life with Nemo looks like

Nemo is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierherberge Egelsbach e.V. in Egelsbach.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Nemo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Nemo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierherberge Egelsbach e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Nemo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Nemo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierherberge Egelsbach e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Nemo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Nemo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierherberge Egelsbach e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Nemo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
