Adopt NÉO

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 9 years

MALE NEUTERED X SETTER BORN ON 01/01/2017 CHIPPED 250269590938609 NÉO arrived at the shelter in January 2023, from the pound. Adopted for the first time in April, he came back in June because he cannot stand being alone... Re-adopted in December 2023, he unfortunately came back four months later, for the same reason. A new home was found for him in December 2024, but in September 2025, NÉO came back again: his adopter, facing serious personal problems, had to go back to live with his parents and could not take him with him. Despite all this, NÉO remains a lovely, food-loving, energetic dog who loves to play and make the most of his outdoor walks! NÉO is also very affectionate 🥰 (he is the favorite of several of our volunteers 🤫). We can't stand seeing him resigned in his box...😔We really don't understand why he hasn't found his forever home yet…!!! To be happy, NÉO needs: A dynamic home, With lots of presence, Without other animals, He likes children, And a very well-fenced yard so he can stay outside when he feels like it. In terms of health, NÉO is epileptic, but rest assured: he is on daily treatment and has not had any seizures since he has been properly cared for! He also had surgery in November for the placement of a left hip prosthesis. (He will need the same operation on the right side in a few weeks) Each surgery costs 2,200 euros for the association. If you cannot adopt NÉO but would like to help us finance his operations, it is possible to make a donation, tax-deductible via: Helloasso: Paypal: By check: SPABN, Route de Saint-Manvieu-Norrey, 14790 VERSON By direct debit or transfer: for that, you need to contact us by email at Thank you in advance for your support!

About NÉO

What life with NÉO looks like

NÉO is a senior mixed breed dog waiting at SPA de Basse-Normandie in Verson.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Fees are typically €150–€300. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting NÉO, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about NÉO?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SPA de Basse-Normandie handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw NÉO on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt NÉO if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SPA de Basse-Normandie will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is NÉO already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if NÉO isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SPA de Basse-Normandie early rather than rehoming privately; they know NÉO and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
