Neo

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 1 year

Neo is a young dog born in September 2025. He is a male with a tricolor coat. He will probably be a medium-sized dog, and currently weighs about 11 kilograms. At the moment he is one of the more demanding animals - both emotionally and in terms of the work he needs. Neo is an extremely fearful dog. Most of the time he spends in the kennel, which is the only sense of security for him. In shelter conditions, he has a big problem overcoming his fear of people - contact with them is very difficult and stressful for him. The progress we observe is minimal at the moment, which indicates that further work in the shelter environment will be a long-term and limited process. Neo cannot walk on a leash and is not ready for standard functioning in a relationship with a human. In situations that overwhelm him - especially when it is necessary to perform any actions near him - he can react aggressively. This is a reaction resulting from very strong fear and lack of a sense of security. Neo requires an exceptionally experienced, consistent caregiver who has knowledge in working with fearful and reactive dogs and is ready to undertake a long-term behavioral work process. This is a dog that requires great patience, calmness and the ability to read stress signals. He would best fit in a quiet, stable environment, away from excessive stimuli, where he will have the opportunity to gradually build a sense of security. Neo is a difficult puppy, who is not ready for a typical home at the moment. However, with the right approach, knowledge and commitment, he has a chance to improve and gradually open up to the world. We are looking for someone aware of the challenges, ready to take on this demanding, but potentially very satisfying work. Neo is neutered, dewormed, vaccinated and microchipped.

Neo to młody pies urodzony we wrześniu 2025 roku. To pies wymagający ogromnej cierpliwości, spokoju i umiejętności czytania sygnałów stresu.

About Neo

What life with Neo looks like

Neo is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko Janik (Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski) in Poland.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Neo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Neo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Janik (Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski) handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Neo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Neo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Janik (Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski) will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Neo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Neo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Janik (Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski) early rather than rehoming privately; they know Neo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
