Nero, Niko, Nils &#038

Mixed Breed · Male · Baby · 5 months

Nero, Niko, Nils & Chacky male, not neutered, born February 2026 Four young German Giants are looking for their forever home These four handsome rabbit boys are just 5 months old and still at the beginning of their lives. They were taken over by another animal shelter that had reached its capacity limits due to a large number of rabbits. Now the four have arrived with us and hope to move into a loving home soon. The boys can be placed individually - naturally only with an existing, suitable rabbit partner or in an existing harmonious group. A single-animal household is not an option for us because rabbits are very social animals and absolutely need fellow species. As German Giants, they belong to the largest rabbit breeds of all. When fully grown, they reach a weight of about 7 to 10 kg and therefore require significantly more space than smaller rabbit breeds. Ideally, they live in a spacious, structured outdoor enclosure or in a very spacious indoor enclosure. Permanently sufficient movement space should be available for each animal so that they can follow their natural urge to move. Hiding places, elevated lying areas, digging possibilities as well as varied occupation are just as much part of an appropriate keeping as fresh hay, water and a balanced, leafy diet. The four are curious, active and discover their environment with great interest in accordance with their age. With some patience and a suitable home, they will surely develop into great companions. If you would like to give one of these sympathetic giants a nice home, please feel free to contact us. We will of course advise you extensively on keeping and socializing.

About Nero, Niko, Nils &#038

What life with Nero, Niko, Nils &#038 looks like

Nero, Niko, Nils &#038 is a small puppy/kitten mixed breed rabbit waiting at Tierheim Vaihingen in Vaihingen an der Enz.

Rabbits are social animals — most shelters recommend adopting them in bonded pairs rather than alone. They need fresh hay daily, several hours of out-of-cage time, and rabbit-safe spaces to explore. They live eight to twelve years, longer than many people expect.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Nero, Niko, Nils &#038, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Nero, Niko, Nils &#038?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Vaihingen handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Nero, Niko, Nils &#038 on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Nero, Niko, Nils &#038 if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Vaihingen will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Nero, Niko, Nils &#038 already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most rabbits on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Nero, Niko, Nils &#038 isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Vaihingen early rather than rehoming privately; they know Nero, Niko, Nils &#038 and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
