Neroni

Belgian Malinois · Male

Neroni ID No.: 1046373 Breed: Malinois-Mix Age: *ca. 10/2018 Sex: male Shoulder height: approx. 73 cm Neutered: Yes Location: Marbella (Spain) Inquiry form Neroni – Strong Malinois with a big heart finally seeks security Neroni (* ca. 10/2018, approx. 73 cm) is an impressive presence and a very powerful dog. He was officially seized from his previous home, where he had to live isolated on a terrace without walks or genuine affection. This period has left its mark; at our Spanish partner shelter Triple A, Neroni suffers greatly from the confinement and lack of human contact, having lost significant weight due to extreme stress. Despite his enormous size and breed-typical energy, Neroni is, at heart, a deeply tender soul. Whenever volunteers take him out of his kennel for a walk, you can see hope in his eyes—he immediately seeks physical closeness, pressing tightly against his humans and wishing never to return to his cage. He is an utterly loyal companion who loves his trusted people with a devotion that truly touches the heart. However, as a Malinois mixed breed, he carries a certain nervousness along with exceptional physical strength and endurance, so he must never be underestimated. Understandably, after spending 23 hours confined each day, he is initially very stressed when finally allowed out and pulls strongly on the leash—his human needs absolute steadiness in these moments. Once the initial excitement fades, though, he reveals his best self. On his second outing, he was already much calmer, sat nicely in the car, and responded wonderfully to cues. Neroni is an intelligent and attentive dog who is highly food-motivated, making training together especially easy. He enjoys mental stimulation, whether through obedience exercises or little tricks. On a long line, he curiously explores the world with his nose, adores water, and won’t pass up a single puddle. However, due to his isolated past, he still reacts uncertainly in new situations—for example, around loud trucks. Therefore, he needs a quieter living environment with clear, consistent routines to provide him with the security he so desperately requires. Neroni approaches other dogs respectfully, though he is not a submissive dog. If provoked, he will certainly stand his ground, but he never initiates conflict himself. He would be happiest as an only dog, enjoying undivided attention, though with prior agreement, he might possibly join a household with another confident only dog. Because he is so extremely attached to his humans and is already suffering deeply, we anticipate separation anxiety; being left alone must be introduced from day one in his new home through extremely gradual steps and with great patience. We are looking for experienced people for Neroni—individuals who can offer him clear, loving guidance, physically manage him, and provide the sense of safety he urgently needs. Neroni has an EU pet passport and is, of course, microchipped, vaccinated, neutered, tested for Mediterranean diseases, dewormed, and treated for fleas for travel arrangements. Vaccinations: Yes Mediterranean check: Yes Microchip: No Diseases: None known incl. transport Contact: Larissa Spörl Tel: Email:

About Neroni

What life with Neroni looks like

Neroni is a large adult belgian malinois dog waiting at Helfende Hände e.V. in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Neroni, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Neroni?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Helfende Hände e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Neroni on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Neroni if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Helfende Hände e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Neroni already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Neroni isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Helfende Hände e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Neroni and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
