Adopt Nevi

Female · Young · 1 year

What should be known about me? In the animal shelter since: 29.12.2025, Private Temporary Placement: For appropriate husbandry, a cage is too small for me—I am, after all, quite a large fellow and need plenty of space to fly and play properly. Company: Since I was never kept with appropriate company throughout my life, it's hard to say how I react to a fellow animal... although my little friend has worked out quite well—someone of my size would be ideal... So I am: If you don't irritate me and let me have my peace, I will sometimes sing you a song, but I am basically very peaceful. If you come too close to me or my food, then I can be a bit grumpy. ;)

About Nevi

What life with Nevi looks like

Nevi is a large young adult bird waiting at Tierheim Wels in Wels.

Birds are long-lived, social, and noisy. The species and individual history matter enormously — ex-companion parrots can carry strong attachments and trauma. Ask the shelter about their daily routine, diet, and whether they'd do best alone or with a flockmate.

Note from the shelter: Needs large flight space, not suitable for cage housing. Has not been properly socialized with other birds.

🇦🇹Adopting from Austria

Austrian shelters follow the federal Tierschutzgesetz framework: adopters sign a Schutzvertrag (protection contract) committing to the animal's welfare. Spay/neuter, microchip, and vaccinations are included; fees typically range €150–€350.

Frequently asked

Adopting Nevi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Nevi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Wels handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Nevi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Nevi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Wels will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Nevi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most birds on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Nevi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Wels early rather than rehoming privately; they know Nevi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
