Adopt Neya

European Shorthair · Female · Adult · 6 years

Identified by microchip Type: European Color: Black and white - Coat: Short spayed Tested FIV (AIDS) - FELV (Leukemia) negative Vaccinated for Typhus and cat flu Health: All is well. At the shelter I am Neya. I arrived at the shelter in October 2021, in a foster home, with my six kittens. I was a very worried mother, always on alert, but my babies quickly found their way. They grew up, blossomed, and were adopted one after another. I am happy for them, even though it left me with a big void. Read more... My foster family, who took care of me, had to move to the province. So I came to the cattery. The change was difficult. At first, I hid for a very long time, unable to understand what was happening to me. The noise, the movements, the people... everything scared me. I preferred to wait for the night or moments of silence to quietly go out for a walk in the enclosure, where I could breathe a little. I am a timid little cat, that's true. Trusting humans has never been easy for me. But despite my fears, I make an effort. Slowly, at my own pace. There are some volunteers I have finally accepted a bit more than others. With them, I sometimes take a treat directly from the hand. It's a small gesture, but for me, it's a huge step. I am not an aggressive cat, just a sensitive soul that needs time, calm and tenderness. I dream of a home where I would be allowed to move forward without pressure, where they would understand that every small progress is a victory. I would like to find a patient, kind, respectful family. Maybe even a home where another cat already lives, a fellow animal of the same species that is confident and secure, who could help me feel safe and understand that humans can be kind. I may never become a big cuddler, but I can learn to live peacefully, in my own way. I just need a chance. Maybe someone, somewhere, is ready to offer it to me. Find Neya on the shelter's Facebook page.

About Neya

What life with Neya looks like

Neya is a adult european shorthair cat waiting at Le Regroupement Des Chats Perdus in France.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Fees are typically €150–€300. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting Neya, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Neya?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Le Regroupement Des Chats Perdus handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Neya on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Neya if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Le Regroupement Des Chats Perdus will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Neya already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Neya isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Le Regroupement Des Chats Perdus early rather than rehoming privately; they know Neya and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
