Nicky

adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Nicky has found her forever home! Her story: Nicky is just at the beginning of her life – only 2.5 months old, and yet she already knows what it means to be on her own. She was found alone, likely abandoned or left on her own. Fortunately, a kind animal lover brought her to the public shelter in Bistrita. But she shouldn’t stay there long, she’d rather move into a loving home full of love. When interacting with other dogs, the fluffy polar bear puppy is friendly and gets along well with all of them. Nicky will grow to be medium-sized and will weigh approximately between 20 and 30 kilograms when fully grown. Visually, she is a real stunner: she has soft, dense white fur and looks like a little polar bear. Her small pink-black snout makes her unmistakable. Based on her appearance, she could be a Maremmano – or more generally, a herding mix. One should therefore familiarize themselves with the characteristics of such a breed and consider whether the dog fits into the personal environment. Herding dogs are not city or office dogs. A large property that she can guard would be ideal for her. Since the territory of a herding dog extends as far as they can see, the property should be fenced. For Nicky, we are looking for a loving home with people who are willing to work with her and patiently teach her the basics of being a house puppy: house training, leash walking, environmental stimuli – all of this she should be allowed to learn gradually. Positive training classes can help – especially during puberty, when the now small polar bear puppy likes to question everything she has learned. Nicky is microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated for her travel arrangements. She is not yet neutered due to her young age, but she does have her EU pet passport in her luggage. An even better step would be a foster home for her. Do you have room for a fluffy little polar bear puppy on your sofa? A huge thank you to Jana – you gave Nicky her name and made her visible. Stand: 15.09.2025

About Nicky

What life with Nicky looks like

Nicky is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Nicky, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Nicky?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Nicky on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Nicky if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Nicky already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Nicky isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Nicky and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
