Nico

Rottweiler · Male · Young · 3 years

Nico also has some ongoing medical needs, which the center will happily discuss in detail with potential adopters before adoption. Nico is a handsome 3 year old Rottweiler who has come to us as a stray and is now looking for a patient and understanding home to call his own. As we don't know much about Nico's previous life, he may need some help with housetraining, and any time left home alone will need to be built up gradually as he settles into his new routine. Nico is still under assessment around other dogs, but he has shown that he can walk alongside them. He can be a little rude and enthusiastic at times, so he'll benefit from continued guidance and positive experiences around his canine friends. Nico can be nervous with general handling, so he's looking for owners who can take a gentle, patient approach and give him time to build trust. He could live with upper secondary-age children who understand the importance of giving him space when needed. When Nico is feeling confident, his playful side really comes out! He loves a good game of tug with his handlers and is eager to learn, so we're sure he'll enjoy building a bond with an owner who can make training fun.

About Nico

What life with Nico looks like

Nico is a young adult rottweiler dog waiting at Dogs Trust Kenilworth in Kenilworth.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Nico, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Nico?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Kenilworth handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Nico on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Nico if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Kenilworth will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Nico already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Nico isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Kenilworth early rather than rehoming privately; they know Nico and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
