All Dogs Nielo -at Training Facility- Published: February 8, 2026 Birthdate: estimated February 2021 Gender: male Breed: Mix Size (shoulder height): ca. 52cm Weight: 18.3kg Nielo had great luck: One of our staff members found a training facility placement. In late April 2023, he was able to move there to get to know everyday life and work on his challenges. Our staff member reports on life with Nielo: He gets along well with the two female dogs in the household. Now, being alone is no longer a problem either – and even without the “girls” as a support. Like many dogs, Nielo’s friendliness also depends on how encounters with other animals go. He is usually grateful when someone supports him by increasing the distance and thus taking some responsibility away from him. Being in close quarters with too many people still unsettles him strongly. This is understandable and should be avoided as much as possible. If his signals are overlooked, he may growl – not out of aggression, but out of insecurity and a desire for more space. However, he can be redirected and quickly relaxes. For situations where this is not immediately possible, his trainer has already built a marker word with him. With this, he will be more reliably approachable in the future. Nielo, however, already excels at the small dog 1x1. He enjoys car rides, happily gets in by himself, and lies down relaxed. He is house-trained, behaves calmly in the house, and is unimpressed by everyday noises. Even city trips, a comfortable ice cream, or an evening at the beer garden can be done with him. At the beginning, however, he should wear a muzzle, and it is recommended to keep a close eye on him and continue practicing.

About Nielo -auf Trainingsstelle

What life with Nielo -auf Trainingsstelle looks like

Nielo -auf Trainingsstelle is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierheim Alsfeld in Germany.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Nielo -auf Trainingsstelle, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Nielo -auf Trainingsstelle?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Alsfeld handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Nielo -auf Trainingsstelle on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Nielo -auf Trainingsstelle if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Alsfeld will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Nielo -auf Trainingsstelle already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Nielo -auf Trainingsstelle isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Alsfeld early rather than rehoming privately; they know Nielo -auf Trainingsstelle and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
