Nijntje

Male · Young · 1 year

Nijntje is a cheerful and curious rabbit. He greets you when you walk up and then happily hops along behind you. Picking him up can sometimes feel a bit scary for Nijntje. On the other hand, he likes being cuddled. For Nijntje we are looking for a spacious indoor enclosure where he gets enough freedom of movement and stimulation. We will place him with a friendly foster caregiver who has a good buddy for him to grow up with during their adventures together. Nijntje can very well be placed in a household with children of all ages. Go back

NL·Show original

Ga terug

About Nijntje

What life with Nijntje looks like

Nijntje is a young adult rabbit waiting at Dierentehuis Arnhem in Netherlands.

Rabbits are social animals — most shelters recommend adopting them in bonded pairs rather than alone. They need fresh hay daily, several hours of out-of-cage time, and rabbit-safe spaces to explore. They live eight to twelve years, longer than many people expect.

Paperwork, vet checks and transport rules differ by species and by country. Ask the shelter what is included and what you will need to arrange before you commit.

Frequently asked

Adopting Nijntje, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Nijntje?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dierentehuis Arnhem handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Nijntje on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Nijntje if I live in another country?
Sometimes. Whether a rabbit can move between countries depends on the species and the rules in both countries, and some species need permits or have restrictions. Ask Dierentehuis Arnhem what paperwork and transport they require, and check the import rules of your country before you commit.
Is Nijntje already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
What a rabbit comes with (vet checks, vaccinations, identification, paperwork) varies by shelter and species. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask Dierentehuis Arnhem directly what is included and what Nijntje still needs.
What happens if Nijntje isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dierentehuis Arnhem early rather than rehoming privately; they know Nijntje and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
