Nikki

European Shorthair Β· Male Β· Adult Β· 9 years

Nikki ♂️, a black and white cat, is looking for a home! πŸ€ 🐱 Age: approximately 1.5 years πŸŽ‚ Estimated birth date: approximately February 2025 πŸˆβ€β¬› Coat color: black and white πŸ‘€ Eye color: green βœ‚οΈ Neutered: yes 🏑 Housing: indoor, with secure outdoor access 🚾 Housebroken: yes πŸš— Circumstances of discovery: Nikki was given to the animal shelter as a helpless found animal. Unfortunately, we do not know his history. πŸ’š Character: Nikki is partially unsure and shy due to his deafness and needs people who meet him with patience and understanding. A already existing, confident second cat would be especially nice for him, as it would give him security and help him find his way in his new home. 🐾 Special: Nikki is deaf or currently does not hear or does not hear well. The cause is benign polyps in his ears. Whether he can hear better after a possible removal of the polyps is currently unfortunately not certain. Now the handsome cat is looking for a loving and quiet home, where he can arrive and trust.

About Nikki

What life with Nikki looks like

Nikki is a adult european shorthair cat waiting at Mutig Tierschutz e.V. in Germany.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction β€” every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

πŸ‡©πŸ‡ͺAdopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Nikki, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Nikki?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Mutig Tierschutz e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly β€” TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Nikki on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Nikki if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad β€” Mutig Tierschutz e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Nikki already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported β€” ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Nikki isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work β€” that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Mutig Tierschutz e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Nikki and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect β€” names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
