🔴Private Foster Care Assistance🔴 Niles is looking for his forever home ❤️ Name: Niles Born: 2020 (6 years old) Health: Neutered Health * Minor heart defect that currently doesn’t require treatment. * Ankle injury—this is why I don’t like sudden changes in direction. * Calcium-related constipation, which is why my BARF diet has been adjusted. This is me I’m a shy and sensitive tomcat. I like to decide for myself when and where I want to cuddle—preferably comfortably next to you on the couch or on the floor. I need my personal space and absolutely hate being carried or put on someone’s lap. I’m a curious explorer who loves climbing on cabinets, investigating bags and boxes, or lounging in the sun by the window. Playing, watching, and cuddling with my favorite human are among my greatest joys—of course, only when I’m ready for it myself. Things I don’t like Loud noises, hectic movements, quick steps, loud voices, and drafts scare me. I need places to retreat to, consistent routines, and people who respect my boundaries. Once I’ve built trust, I’ll come to you all on my own and enjoy your company. Diet I’m fed a raw diet (BARF) and tolerate it very well. I especially love eating rabbit, chicken, chicken hearts, and pumpkin. Due to my calcium metabolism, I shouldn’t have dairy products. If you have any questions about the BARF diet, my owner will be happy to answer them for you. My ideal home I’d like a quiet home without children, where I can live as an only cat. A calm, experienced dog might possibly be a good match. Above all, I need people who give me time to build trust and don’t push me into anything. With patience, understanding, and lots of love, you’ll get a sensitive, cuddly, and loyal companion who’ll give you his heart. ❤️

About Niles

What life with Niles looks like

Niles is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tiere in Not Solingen in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Niles, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Niles?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tiere in Not Solingen handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Niles on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Niles if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tiere in Not Solingen will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Niles already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Niles isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tiere in Not Solingen early rather than rehoming privately; they know Niles and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
