Nilo K

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 9 years

Profile: Born in 2021, Gender: male, neutered: yes, Character: friendly, Size: approx. 46 cm, In shelter since: August 2021. Hello, here I come, Nilo, on the lookout for a Forever Home. Do you have a dog bed for me? When I was just a tiny puppy, I had everything I needed to win someone's heart! I was so young and could look utterly irresistible. With big eyes and floppy ears, I set out on the search for my family. But many months have passed, and there is no sweet, little puppy asking for a chance. No, now I am a sturdy young dog who has sadly given up the puppy bonus to many others. As a young dog, it's hard here. Too old for people who want a little puppy, but too young for those who prefer a more mature dog who doesn't have as many silly ideas in his head. But what does age say about me? I am Nilo, and a few months make no difference to what I want and how a future with me would look. Being part of a real family is all I want. I get along very well with other dogs and would rather avoid any trouble. So, I am a dog with whom you can get along very well. It would be so important for me to finally start my real life. If you become my family, many things would fall into place. I need people by my side who will take me by the paw and want to show me more of the world. If you are interested in Nilo, please fill out our Prospective Owner Form or write us an email or a message on Facebook. Nilo is ready to travel and can travel to Germany with the next transport. Our dogs travel legally with Traces. Traces refers to the database system that monitors the entire animal transport within the EU. The dogs travel neutered (if old enough), vaccinated, microchipped, and dewormed, and have an EU Pass. Additionally, for dogs over 12 months old, a rapid test for the following Mediterranean diseases is conducted before travel arrangements: Borreliosis, Anaplasmosis, Ehrlichiosis, Dirofilariosis, and leishmaniasis. The sponsorship for Nilo has been taken over by Karin J., and thus ensures a full plate. Many thanks on behalf of the dogs!

About Nilo K

What life with Nilo K looks like

Nilo K is a medium-sized senior mixed breed dog waiting at Seelen für Seelchen e.V. in Alfter.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Nilo K, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Nilo K?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Seelen für Seelchen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Nilo K on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Nilo K if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Seelen für Seelchen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Nilo K already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Nilo K isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Seelen für Seelchen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Nilo K and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
