Ninni

Mixed Breed · Female · Puppy

Ninni's story unfortunately doesn't start nicely, but is classic for southern European animal protection. Right on time for the holidays, the small puppy was abandoned in a village and simply left to her own devices. The more impressive it is how friendly, approachable, and calm the cheerful dog girl has remained. Some dogs carry their past with them for a long time - Ninni seems to have decided to rather look ahead. That's what she would like to do together with her new family - and not just temporarily! Ninni is a young terrier mix with a large Bodeguero heritage - exactly the kind of dog where you immediately notice: there's movement in the head, combined with a lot of humor and charm. With her shoulder height of about 42 cm and around 17 kg, she has a very practical size: big enough for shared adventures, small enough not to take up half the sofa. Although she probably would consider the sofa as negotiable. Ninni celebrates her first birthday in June 2026 and is still at the very beginning of her life. It would be great if she didn't spend the important time of growing up in the shelter, but at the side of supportive and loving people. Character-wise, Ninni shows herself as very affectionate, pleasant, and rather quiet (pleasantly surprising for her mix). She is attached, friendly, and has a large portion of gentleness. She is by no means boring - rather the type of dog that goes through life with alert eyes without making a state event out of every pigeon. Ninni already walks well on a leash and meets her environment openly, interested, and approachable. Our charming cuddle ball gets along well with other dogs and is also suitable for people who haven't gathered dog experience their entire lives. Ninni doesn't need a special commando training team, but reliable people with heart, humor, and common sense. So far, there are no experiences yet on how Ninni reacts to children or cats, but with children we have no concerns at all, as long as coexistence is designed calmly and with mutual respect. Whether cats awaken the inner terrier in our tender princess could be tested if necessary. Her checks for Mediterranean diseases were all negative and Ninni is also in top form in the shelter (with a little too much around the middle for the perfect summer figure). Ninni is now looking for a home where she is not only found cute, but really welcomed as a family member. She wishes for a place with clear structures, loving support, and people who know that trust does not grow overnight, but develops through shared routines and reliability. Anyone looking for a young, charming, down-to-earth dog who convinces with wit, heart, and genuine nature should definitely consider calling our adoption officers ...

DE·Show original

About Ninni

What life with Ninni looks like

Ninni is a small puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. in Gernsbach.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ninni, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ninni?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ninni on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ninni if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Ninni already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ninni isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ninni and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
