Nino

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 1 year

With a heavy heart and in the best interest of the dog, a new home is sought for the one-year-old male dog Nino. Nino was born on 08.03.2025, originally came from Romania, and is a ca. 50 cm high, neutered mixed breed. He is a very lively, playful, and at the same time incredibly inquisitive dog who learns quickly and enjoys discovering new things. He already knows all basic commands, travels calmly in the car, and can – after appropriate adjustment – also be left alone for several hours. However, this should be built up carefully and step by step in a new home. Initially, Nino meets strangers with uncertainty, but quickly gains trust with calm and patient handling. In new or unfamiliar situations, he needs time to get to know and process them at his own pace. With children he knows, he behaves neutrally – he lets himself be petted, but does not seek close contact and does not want to be pressured. Therefore, a household with older or adult children would be ideal. Similarly, there should be no cats in the new home. For Nino, a quiet, stable home is sought, preferably in a rural environment where he finds sufficient retreat options and a relaxed atmosphere. People with experience in dealing with active or guardian dog-like dogs would be particularly suitable to give him the necessary security and guidance. Nino is a wonderful, sensitive dog with great potential who can grow into a loyal and balanced companion in the right environment. Nino is currently still with his family and can stay there until a new home is found. Location: Oberuhldingen / Bodensee Contact:

About Nino

What life with Nino looks like

Nino is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Markdorf in Markdorf.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Nino, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Nino?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Markdorf handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Nino on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Nino if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Markdorf will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Nino already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Nino isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Markdorf early rather than rehoming privately; they know Nino and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
