Nirvana (Нірвана)

This is Nirvana. When we learned about her, the situation at the animal shelter was already extremely difficult. Only the beginning of life returning to Kyiv, it was unclear what would happen next, a heavy situation in all directions. A pile of unanswered questions and no clear answers about the future. A girl called at the animal shelter asking for help, even with trapping a dog. The story is ordinary, such as the ones we are already used to, even more so in times of war: a jeep arrived and dropped off two dogs near a village, an Alabai and a Malayan. The Alabai was quickly taken by a local resident, but Nirvana wouldn’t give in. It was impossible to get within even 50 meters, she would disappear immediately. After some time, she was finally caught. Nirvana had already been in a critical condition when she arrived: she couldn’t walk, stand, or sit, she was constantly shaking, afraid of everything, eating poorly, and going to the bathroom. A series of examinations began: blood tests, ultrasound of all organs, X-rays, CT, MRI, neurological examinations one, two, three, one hypothesis changed to another, more tests… and the diagnosis, like a verdict, was Borreliosis (Lyme disease). It was clear she had been infected in the home she considered her own, which was almost at the brink of her condition. This disease is very insidious, requiring long-term treatment and recovery. A long course of antibiotics removed the borrelii from her body, but the impact of the disease on Nirvana’s organism became irreversible. Nirvana quickly understood that her new “family” cared for her. She bravely endured all the tests and analyses. She loves attention very much, turning out to be incredibly tender and attentive to both people and other puppies. But she is still very afraid of men (probably for a good reason…) and is wary of unfamiliar people. But when interacting, she reveals her loyal and loving heart. She so wants to play and run like healthy Malayan, but her weakened muscle tone, joint problems, and tremor do not allow her to lead a full life. After the New Year, Nirvana begins a course of physiotherapy with great hope that it will help improve her physical and emotional well-being.
