Niura (w)

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 2 years

data-cycle-paused="true" data-cycle-prev="" data-cycle-next="" data-cycle-pager="" data-cycle-pager-template=" " data-cycle-speed="750" A poor creature was running around the streets of Chisinau. Animal welfare workers caught her, but where could she go? Niura is nothing but skin and bones and suffers severely from Demodex. What the poor female dog has endured, one does not even want to imagine. The only place where Niura could have found shelter would have been the former death camp. However, just sick and old dogs disappear there, and apparently no one knows what happens to them. The volunteer who cares for the animals there and found Niura asked us to take her in and treat her. Niura, of course, can stay with us, but right now, it's most important that she gets better and her pain is relieved. Niura is an Alabei, about 2 years old, and very friendly. We will keep you updated on Niura's progress…. 04.04.19: Niuri has recovered remarkably well in the short time of her treatment. Of course, there is still a long way to go, but one can already see the first progress. The caretakers describe her as a really great female dog…

About Niura (w)

What life with Niura (w) looks like

Niura (w) is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tiernothilfe Casa Katharina e.V. in Nürnberg.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Niura (w), answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Niura (w)?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tiernothilfe Casa Katharina e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Niura (w) on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Niura (w) if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tiernothilfe Casa Katharina e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Niura (w) already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Niura (w) isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tiernothilfe Casa Katharina e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Niura (w) and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
