Nola

Belgian Malinois · Female · Adult · 5 years

Nola - sensitive Belgian Malinois female dog is looking for experienced people. Nola came to the animal shelter about two years ago, when she was around two and a half years old. Since then, she has lived there - almost her entire life so far - in a kennel, with little variety and limited contact with the outside world. It is unfortunately understandable that she is initially suspicious of strangers, shows territorial behavior, and wants to protect her environment. However, when she is allowed to leave her familiar surroundings, Nola reveals a completely different side. Since the summer, she has been walking regularly, and away from the shelter's fences, it becomes clear what potential she has: She walks calmly and focused on the leash, is not disturbed by traffic, other people or dogs, and clearly enjoys the time spent together. Short breaks, closeness, pats - all of this she accepts gratefully when trust is present. Nola needs time to get to know people. Strangers in her immediate vicinity initially unsettle her, but anyone who meets her with calmness, clarity and respect can quickly gain her trust. A beautiful example of this was the visit of a trainer in May 2025, whom she accepted without hesitation - a sign that she is certainly capable of adapting to new situations if one gives her the necessary security and knows how to approach her. As a Belgian Malinois, Nola has many breed-specific characteristics: vigilance, sensitivity, willingness to bond and a clear will. At the same time, she needs experienced people who can read her body language, give her structure and do not overwhelm her. A quiet home without children and without constant visitors would be ideal for her. Clear, reliable routines, respectful treatment and giving her time to settle in will be crucial in building a deep bond with the beautiful, sensitive female dog. Nola is not a dog for "just in addition". But she is a dog with depth, loyalty, and we are sure that she can really thrive with the right person by her side. For over two years, Nola has been waiting at the animal shelter to be seen. Perhaps now is the moment when finally the right door opens for her... If you are aware of what comes with adopting a rescue dog and you have fallen for her, please contact the responsible mediator of SALVA Dog Help. We would also be very grateful, especially Nola, for providing a foster home!

About Nola

What life with Nola looks like

Nola is a adult belgian malinois dog waiting at SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Nola, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Nola?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Nola on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Nola if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Nola already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Nola isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Nola and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
