Adopt Nonkel Leon

Mixed Breed · Male · Kitten

Update 4/15/2026: Now that the warm spring days have arrived, we can see that Nonkel Leon enjoys taking a fresh nose every day. He also seems to appreciate the company of his own kind. A lot of human attention is definitely a must! So we are looking for a home where he gets a lot of attention, where he can also use a garden and possibly live with another FIV+ cat. If you would like to meet this sweetie, please send an email to . Don't forget to provide information about your living and lifestyle situation, expectations, as well as mention a phone number. Leon is already looking forward to it! 😻 ==================================================== Nonkel Leon is a treasure of a tomcat, estimated to be around 10 years old, so a young senior. With his tough look, he hides his ginger heart. A lovely cuddler who is social with everyone who wants to give him attention. He is also still quite playful but he is certainly not a troublemaker. Unfortunately, Nonkel Leon tested positive for AIDS but this sweetie is absolutely not sick and can therefore live up to 20 years old as well. He certainly deserves a loving home where he gets a lot of attention. A terrace or balcony is definitely a plus because he likes some fresh air but the most important thing is people who want to see him and have time for him.

About Nonkel Leon

What life with Nonkel Leon looks like

Nonkel Leon is a puppy/kitten mixed breed cat waiting at Het Dierenthuisje VZW in Geel.

Kittens are tiny chaos engines for about six months and then mellow rapidly. They need two scheduled feedings, a litter box per cat plus one extra, and somewhere high to climb. Spay/neuter happens around six months — most shelters arrange this before adoption.

🇧🇪Adopting from Belgium

Belgian shelters operate under regional law (Flanders, Wallonia, Brussels each have their own rules). All adoptions include the Eurochip, vaccinations, and a stewardship contract. Several Flemish shelters partner with Dutch and German rescue networks.

Frequently asked

Adopting Nonkel Leon, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Nonkel Leon?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Het Dierenthuisje VZW handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Nonkel Leon on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Nonkel Leon if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Het Dierenthuisje VZW will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Nonkel Leon already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Nonkel Leon isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Het Dierenthuisje VZW early rather than rehoming privately; they know Nonkel Leon and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
