Norman

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 11 years

Originally entered: 2017.05.07. Returned: 2017.12.09. Returned to Szergény: 2018.11.28. A dog that was handed in by its owner at the Papal municipal pound. Entered Szergény: 2017.02.24. Norman unfortunately is once again over a failed adoption. His first family was not able to give him the attention he needed, so he ended up at the shelter again on 2017.12.09. Fortunately, Norman's beauty once again enchanted a family, but for some reason Norman did not find common ground there either, and due to his unpredictable dominance, he returned to our care again. Norman is lively, playful, slightly undisciplined, a real big joker. He would like to move into a house with a family where he can fulfill his great need for movement. With little effort, the future owner will get a very intelligent, devoted companion. We are looking for an owner with experience in dogs. We hope soon the right owner will come who will take responsibility for Norman for the rest of his life, who takes into account the movement needs of a large dog and also spends time on his upbringing. Vaccinated, microchipped, neutered, ready for adoption. Attention, Norman is located at the NOÉ Animal Shelter's Szergény branch, you can inquire about him via email! More pictures HERE!

About Norman

What life with Norman looks like

Norman is a small senior mixed breed dog waiting at Noé Állatotthon in Budapest.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

Note from the shelter: History of two failed adoptions due to unpredictable dominance behavior

🇭🇺Adopting from Hungary

Hungarian shelters operate at high capacity given the country's stray population. Animals leave sterilized, chipped, and with a passport. Many shelters coordinate transport to Germany, Austria, and the Nordics.

Frequently asked

Adopting Norman, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Norman?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Noé Állatotthon handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Norman on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Norman if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Noé Állatotthon will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Norman already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Norman isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Noé Állatotthon early rather than rehoming privately; they know Norman and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (HU). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
