Adopt Norman

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy · 11 months

Ref. No.: w-korfu-norman-m-0925 Location: Düsseldorf (NRW) Update from the foster home February 2026: Norman's fur is growing and growing and growing... but unfortunately not fully. When he arrived at the shelter on Corfu, he had Demodex mites and was quite bare. The treatment has been successfully completed, and now it's a matter of patience. Typical for Demodex, the fur grows very slowly in some areas, so he currently has a rather peculiar hairstyle ;-). Where the fur grows "normally," it is thick and soft, while in other areas it is stubbly and sparse. His foster mom affectionately calls him her naked frog ;-) Norman doesn't mind and what is appearance anyway - beauty comes from within. Norman tested negative for leishmaniasis. A comprehensive blood test including thyroid values was also done - everything is fine. Update from the foster home January 2026: Norman has now been in his foster home for 7 weeks and is fully integrated into the pack and daily routine. He is - actually from the beginning - house-trained, runs freely on a long leash, and comes back when called. Normi is naturally playful, but for his age, he is already very "sensible." Although he is always in the middle of things and not just a bystander, he is also somewhat reserved with unfamiliar people. Still, he loves to be petted. With his Kumpeline and his buddy in the foster home, Norman can also stay alone at home for a while. He travels well in the car and handles restaurant visits without any problems. Update from the foster home end of November 2025: Norman has settled in wonderfully. He is in good spirits, house-trained, and already walks quite well on a leash. He is an alert, little fellow. Norman has his own Facebook album - Link to the album. September 2025: Frida, Sprotte, Gloria, and the puppies Benita, Eyleen, Suna & Norman were taken from a very poor husbandry situation. We are glad that the little gang now has the chance for a better future in loving families from the animal shelter! We don't know exactly which puppy belongs to which female dog - but one thing we do know - they are all as sweet as can be :) Some of the little ones are still a bit shy and need time to open up - but we are sure they will overcome this too! Norman is about 4 months old and currently about 23cm tall and weighs 4.4kg. He is typically playful like a puppy and loves treats. Norman currently has a skin problem, which is, of course, being treated. All dogs are vaccinated, microchipped, and have an EU pet passport.

Schilddrüsenwerte gemacht - alles in Ordnung. 20260429 05 Norman April 2026

About Norman

What life with Norman looks like

Norman is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Tierhilfe Korfu e.V. in Ratingen.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Norman, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Norman?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierhilfe Korfu e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Norman on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Norman if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierhilfe Korfu e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Norman already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Norman isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierhilfe Korfu e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Norman and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
