Sira

Unknown · Senior · 10 years

Sira is a white and black Dalmatian dog, born on May 29, 2016, unspayed. Update May 18, 2026: The owner of Sira informed us that she has found another way and Sira is no longer to be rehomed. We can only hope this is in Sira's best interest. Update October 5, 2025: After a long conversation with Sira's owner, we can announce that Sira will stay :-) Update October 5, 2025: After a long conversation with Sira's owner, we can announce that Sira will stay :-) We are very happy about the development, but sometimes it just takes time to realize this. There were applicants, but it didn't really work out. We wish her and her family all the best. July 26, 2025: Her owner has worked a lot with Sira. Due to personal changes, unfortunately Sira cannot remain with her owner. Like her sister Käthe, whom we took in in 2020, she is also the uncertain dog. Sira is very well trained, has been trained as a search dog (rescue dog). She needs a stable home, she is fine alone, in the apartment she sometimes barks at noises from outside. A quiet retreat helps, then she feels safe. Sira is a nervous, hard-working female dog who likes all people, but greets everyone with barking and howling. She gets along semi-well with other dogs, but does not like small dogs. With larger dogs it depends on the sympathy. She likes to ride in the car. The tail had to be amputated due to an injury. She is a small delicate female dog weighing 22 kg.

About Sira

What life with Sira looks like

Sira is a senior dog waiting at SOS-Dalmatinerrettung e.V. in Neustad.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Sira, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Sira?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SOS-Dalmatinerrettung e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Sira on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Sira if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SOS-Dalmatinerrettung e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Sira already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Sira isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SOS-Dalmatinerrettung e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Sira and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
