Nova

Female · Adult · 5 years

Nova is an absolutely incredible dog. Striking beauty, an impressive zest for life, and a personality that lights up the whole sanctuary. For us, Nova is something of a mascot around here. After an injury, Nova lost the use of her hind legs and now lives with a paralyzed rear end. But this doesn't stop her from enjoying life one bit. With her wheelchair, Nova gets around with incredible energy. She runs, plays, and sometimes even goes faster than some able-bodied dogs. When she isn't using her wheelchair, she manages in other ways: we often put a little pair of jeans on her to protect her body, which gives her a style that is both adorable and unique. Nova is a dog full of joy, gentle, and extremely lovable. She has an energy and a kindness that touch everyone who meets her. Her disability does require some daily care, however. Nova is incontinent, which means she will need regular baths and a clean, well-maintained environment. These are simple but important steps for her comfort. For us, Nova is far from a "difficult" dog to adopt. On the contrary, she is a true gem. In a calm environment, especially in the countryside, her disability is almost forgotten. She runs, plays, and lives her life fully, just like any other dog. Nova gets along very well with other dogs and especially loves small dogs and puppies. She is about five years old and still has an immense desire to live and to share. Nova will need a present, gentle, and reliable family, ready to accompany her and give her the love and care she needs. Because behind her two missing legs lies a huge heart and an extraordinary dog who, too, deserves a family for life.

FR·Show original

About Nova

What life with Nova looks like

Nova is a medium-sized adult dog waiting at Nos Amis Pour La Vie Europe in France.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting Nova, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Nova?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Nos Amis Pour La Vie Europe handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Nova on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Nova if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Nos Amis Pour La Vie Europe will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Nova already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Nova isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Nos Amis Pour La Vie Europe early rather than rehoming privately; they know Nova and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
