Nox

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 1 year

Description Our animal welfare workers report: if you ask about Nox at the shelter, the animal caretakers respond: "The thief! He stole everything!" Nox knows how to get to what he wants, whether treats or other objects, and is a skilled long-fingered thief. He focuses on what he wants, waits for the right moment in the chaos, and then swiftly and silently makes his way through legs and paws in the commotion, snatching the loot, then slips away unnoticeably. Nox is focused and takes advantage of the excitement of his fellow cagemates, who are begging and lunging at the caretaker, having already secured his loot. He even tried to steal the caretaker's fingers, not knowing they were firmly attached. Nox with the lively eyes and shepherding-dog-like appearance was rescued in a large rescue operation along with 32 other dogs from the city killing in Barlad, after local, communal authorities ordered the killing of approximately 200 dogs by the end of March 2025. Nox is very open and ready for more adventures! The trusting, four-legged Indiana Jones gets along well with fellow animals (Stella, Livia) in his cagemate. Toward people, Nox shows no fears, can be stroked and cuddled, and enjoys it, often searching everyone’s pockets thoroughly. Nox not only steals things but also hearts, says his caretaker! He is playful and stormy but also cooperative and cuddly. The repertoire of the versatile fur-nose is vast! Who is ready to give a small smuggler a home and risk their house and heart as stolen goods? Update 13.03.2026: New photos. A club colleague was on-site and reports: Nox is curious and interested, albeit a bit more cautious than his sister Livia. If approached gently, he allows being stroked and shows his gentle side. A little treasure that simply needs time to build trust. 31.12.2025: New pictures and videos. 29.10.2025: New video. 28.07.2025: New video. 02.06.2025: New pictures, new video. 20.04.2025: New video. 09.04.2025: New video. About Nox

What life with Nox looks like

Nox is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierischgeholfen e.V. in Germany.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Nox, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Nox?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierischgeholfen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Nox on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Nox if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierischgeholfen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Nox already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Nox isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierischgeholfen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Nox and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
