NOX

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 14 years

Nox is an elderly, thin dog, but he still has a lot of life in him. He is active, curious, wants to go for walks, interacts with people and other dogs. He walks well on a leash and is very friendly. We did blood tests and fortunately no diseases were detected. Unfortunately, his kidney values are a bit higher than they should be, so we are giving him supplements and he should eat a specific diet for kidney failure, but in the shelter, where many dogs share the kennel and feeders, this is impossible. If adopted, in a home it would be much easier to give him special food. Nox is a senior dog who will not live many years, but we would like him to spend his last months in a home and not in the shelter. He has already been loved, has already lived in a house, it would be so sad that he spends the rest of his days in the shelter. Nox will be delivered vaccinated, dewormed, sterilized and with a microchip.

PT·Show original

About NOX

What life with NOX looks like

NOX is a senior mixed breed dog waiting at O Cantinho da Milu in Lisbon.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇵🇹Adopting from Portugal

Portuguese rescues coordinate extensively with European rescue networks for cross-border placements, especially for galgos and podencos. Sterilization, vaccinations, and microchip ID are standard. Adoption fees typically cover the full vet workup.

Frequently asked

Adopting NOX, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about NOX?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. O Cantinho da Milu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw NOX on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt NOX if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — O Cantinho da Milu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is NOX already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if NOX isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with O Cantinho da Milu early rather than rehoming privately; they know NOX and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PT). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
